Funchess will catch a career-high in receptions

Funchess should have a career year this season, especially in terms of how many passes will be thrown his way. As a result, he will have a career-high in receptions as he will continue to increase his production from year’s past.

The former Michigan product started off his career with a bang, snagging 31 passes on 63 targets his rookie year of 2015. In his sophomore campaign, there was a dip in production as he caught 23 passes thrown his way.

Last year was the year he really broke out. Despite perhaps playing second fiddle to Kelvin Benjamin at the beginning of the season, he notched career-highs in targets (111) as well as receptions ( 63.) He also tallied a career-high in catch percentage (63.8), meaning he caught more than half his passes.

I think he will be able to put even better numbers together next season. He should be able to notch at least 75 receptions as long as he stays healthy. He remains a constant in a revamped group of receivers in 2018, and has been one of Cam Newton’s top weapons. Now, he should be able to really show the National Football League that he belongs in the conversation with the league’s elite.
