Devin Funchess to Jim Rome: “Super Bowl is the goal”

As the Carolina Panthers and the rest of the National Football League get ready to start the season, the goal of winning a Super Bowl gets closer in sight.
Wednesday Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess appeared on the Jim Rome Show to talk about the upcoming season as well as getting a new offensive coordinator in Norv Turner.
I love what I heard from Funchess in the clip. His “Super Bowl is the goal” quote should be music to every Carolina Panthers fans ears. It may sound cliché to some, but it seems as though there is a sense of excitement about this year. The players seem locked in and ready to get the season started. With everything we have heard about Norv Turner’s offense, it sounds like it is going to be explosive and wide-open.

Secondly, Funchess testifies to the fact that Turner is an offensive guru and that he pushes the players to be better. I like the fact that he said that as well. The “guru” part leads me to believe the Carolina Panthers will have some tricks up their sleeves next season. Particularly at the wide receiver and running back positions, the team has ample playmakers. Maybe they can pull something off that the fans haven’t seen before. However, I am just speculating. Then again, Turner could be cooking up something (in the words of Funchess) “behind the scenes” as we speak.
It can be assumed that Funchess will be a big part of the offense next season. Now in year three, he should be able to take the next step and become one of the top wideouts in the NFL. Maybe Turner’s gameplan has plays that are specifically designed for the former Michigan product. Knowing how Turner is a great offensive mind, that could very well be the case.
