The former Boston College star was the recipient of a pair of gold cleats from Electronic Arts, the company who makes the EA Madden NFL video games. Kuechly was one of seven players with a 99 overall rating. For those unfamiliar with football video games, a 99 overall rating is the highest one you can receive in a game.
The Carolina Panthers official Twitter account tweeted a picture of them on Monday afternoon.
These look absolutely spectacular. Personally, I love gold on anything and these cleats have gold all over them. They look almost too sharp to wear, and I think that may be the case for Kuechly. Wearing these out on the field would be a sin. If anything, these belong in a trophy case. Then again, if anyone could pull off cleats like these on a football field, it would be Luke Kuechly.
The road to 99 has been a long one for Kuechly, now in his seventh season. Nevertheless, he has managed to carve out a career that has seen, among other things, five Pro Bowl selections and four First-team All-Pro selections.
This is not the first accolade the Ohio native has received this offseason. Back in June, he was placed No. 12 on the NFL Network’s Top 100 players list. It has been an eventful offseason for him to say the least. Now, as he enters Year Seven, he looks to add even more hardware to his trophy case, with the ultimate goal being a Super Bowl ring.

He gold cleats are just another reminder of how special No. 59 truly is. As long as he stays healthy, he should continue to be one of the best linebackers in the game for years to come.
