How will the offensive line pan out?

This has to be the biggest burning question before training camp. Who will start at the left guard position? It seems like we have talked about this for quite a while, but it’s a question that remains unsolved and that is an issue. Cam Newton’s blindside must be protected.

So far Taylor MotonJeremiah SirlesTyler Larsen and Greg Van Roten are all battling for a chance at the position. The only inkling of any certainty we have is the fact that Amini Silatolu will get first-team reps come the beginning of training camp, which is something I am not particularly fond of. The Carolina Panthers organization knew this was going to be an issue once they let Andrew Norwell go, and now they have to face the music.

The fact that the position is still being evaluated is concerning. Training camp is a time for evaluation and to see where the team is at. However, the Carolina Panthers have to realize the decision they make will affect Newton, good or bad. A bad decision in regards to personnel management could adversely affect the team  Letting it come down to the wire like the team is doing right now is a bit concerning.

When the position you’re evaluating protects the face of the franchise, you have to make sure you get it right. As for now, the burning question of who will start at left guard remains the top priority.
