Cleared for training camp, a healthy Curtis Samuel is ready to roll for the Carolina Panthers…

If you are a Carolina Panthers fan, I have some great news for you. On Tuesday, David Newton of ESPN.com wrote a piece that discussed what the x-factors for the team would be in the upcoming season.

More from Cat Crave

Buried within the X-factors was the nugget that wideout Curtis Samuel is cleared for full participation in training camp. There were questions as to how he would be health-wise throughout the course of the offseason and whether he would be ready to go. Now, those question marks appear to be question marks no longer.

"Wide receiver Curtis Samuel, whose injury-plagued rookie season ended for good in Week 10 when he suffered a broken bone and ligament damage in his ankle, is expected to be cleared for full participation in camp after getting his speed back faster than expected. Again, the coaches will be cautious with his comeback and perhaps give him a day’s rest periodically."

This is huge news for the Carolina Panthers and Samuel. With training camp just days away, this means he will now have the opportunity to start the new season on time and make a name for himself amongst a group of talented wideouts.

Due to the depth at the wideout position, Samuel was already going to have to work hard to make himself stand out from the rest of the pack. Missing training camp due to injury would have put him at a further disadvantage. Now, at least he has the opportunity to start at the same time as everyone else. Although it may be an uphill battle, there will be opportunities for Samuel to make an impact. He is ranked No. 2 at the right receiver position behind Devin Funchess per the most recent depth chart from OurLads.com.

One other noteworthy piece of information that should not go overlooked is that fact that Newton said Samuel has his speed back. That is certainly great to hear as well. He is one of the Carolina Panthers quicker wideouts. If he can become a speed threat to complement all the other playmakers in the offense, that would be tremendous for the team. A multi-talented offense is always dangerous.

The former Ohio State product is very capable of putting up numbers. He amassed 107 catches for 1,249 yards and nine touchdowns while with the Buckeyes. Fully healthy, he now will get the chance to show what he can do with a full season of professional life under his belt.
