The “Carolina Kid” returns to his home state after spending last season with the Oakland Raiders and could run his way into a position. An injury already sustained by veteran running back Fozzy Whittaker creates a potential opening on the 53-man roster and if Elijah Hood performs well in training camp, it could be his.

Hood would provide a nice change up to fellow newcomer C.J. Anderson, who will fill the position vacated by Jonathan Stewart, and second-year back Christian McCaffrey. Although McCaffrey is expected to see an increased workload this season, having a stable of healthy running backs capable of moving the football is something every team desires.
