Panthers: More questions highlight start to training camp

Vernon Butler Situation

Former first-round pick Vernon Butler was recently accused of assaulting a female at a Dallas night club and the investigation is on going. Butler reported to camp and no charges have been filed, but the NFL Personal Conduct Policy states discipline can be levied if there is reasonable cause to believe something happened, regardless of any court ruling.

Butler is expected to play a much bigger role this season as part of the defensive line rotation and if suspended, could limit the team’s overall production. Already without the services of linebacker Thomas Davis, for a substance abuse violation, the Panthers defense may not be at full strength until later in the year.
