The Carolina Panthers quarterback has had a great offseason….

Cam Newton seems to be a fan of David Tepper. At least that’s what could be gathered when he spoke to the media for the first time since the Carolina Panthers lost their NFC Wildcard Game to the New Orleans Saints in January. Saturday, he gave insight into the level of communication he has had with the owner.

"“He was an open book and that was extremely important. Early meetings have been great. I’m excited knowing we have a very lively owner.”"

Newton himself has looked lively over the first couple days of training camp. Among other things, he has taken a fan’s offer of a Bojangles meal, and “kicked” a Falcons fan out of practice (which is the right move.)

With Newton back on social media, and appearing to be unafraid to express himself, we are surely seeing Newton living his best life. It seems as though he is genuinely happy again and that can only mean good things for the Panthers.

Just Sunday, he gave a fan the jersey off his back and interacted with him for a bit. In doing so, he gave the fan a memory that will last a lifetime.

We have seen him with some of the biggest stars in the National Football League this offseason, with Antonio Brown and divisional rival Julio Jones being some of the bigger names.

What is even more important is that it appears that Tepper can match Newton’s excitement and love for the game. Both want to win games and championships, and it appears that Newton is all in and ready to compete. In a division that is loaded with talent, the compete level for the Carolina Panthers has to be at full blast. The New Orleans Saints in particular got better this offseason and will certainly give the Panthers a run for their money.

One of the things that people have knocked Newton for is his boisterous personality. However, the Carolina Panthers have been at their best when Newton has that swagger to him. Particularly in the 2013 season when the team started 1-3, his confidence was a big reason why the team went 11-1 the rest of the year.

Next. Daryl Williams injury should be a cause for concern. dark

We will have to wait and see if Newton’s personality will translate onto the field. If it does, the Carolina Panthers will have a great season. A happy Newton should be a productive one as the Panthers have set their sights high in 2018.
