Rising Star: D.J. Moore, WR

This one is a no-brainer. The hype surrounding D.J. Moore has been present ever since the Carolina Panthers drafted him. Selected No. 22 overall, the publicity is more than deserved. After catching 80 passes for 1,033 yards and eight touchdowns for the Maryland Terrapins in 2017, he decided it was time to take his talents to the National Football League.

Just recently, Jeremy Igo did a report on Monday offering his take on all the Carolina Panthers rookies and he gave special props to Moore. He has been turning heads throughout the course of preseason camp and it looks like the praise will not be slowing down anytime soon. Even Panther great Steve Smith was excited about Moore’s potential, and when you impress one of the great receivers in recent memory, you are doing something right.

Moore is the No. 2 receiver on the left side behind Devin Funchess per the most recent depth chart from OurLads.com.

With his playmaking ability and ability to run after the catch, he could truly be a rising star and a focal point of the Carolina Panthers offense. He has all the talent to become a primary weapon for Cam Newton in the not-so-distant future. He is the ultimate downfield weapon, something that Newton has been missing for years.

There is a genuine buzz surrounding Moore and for good reason. He is by far the Carolina Panthers rising star as he could become a franchise cornerstone.
