The former Carolina Panthers back made his feelings known via Twitter…

Another day, another instance where a former player expresses his disagreement with the Carolina Panthers. Saturday, former Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams tweeted his support for Kelvin Benjamin after the latter expressed his frustration with the organization. He then continued to express his feelings Sunday.

Williams spent nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers and accrued impressive numbers while he was there. With 82 carries for 1,432 yards and 46 touchdowns, he was a focal point of the offense for many years. His best season came in the 2008 campaign. That year, he rushed the rock 273 times for 1,515 yards and 18 touchdowns.

In addition to his support for Benjamin, Williams also engaged with several fans on Twitter, including referencing the fact that the Carolina Panthers lost Super Bowl 50.

This continues to sound like another case of sour grapes, this time on the part of Williams. I have no problem with him sticking up for Benjamin. I get it.When you feel as though someone is in the same situation as you or you’re friends with someone, you want to have their back.  It is very understandable to say the least.

However, the way he went about it is not a good look. Maybe there was something that went on behind the scenes that we do not know about. Even still, this does not put the organization in a positive light. There certainly seems to be some resentment on the part of Williams. If there was any positive things to come out of this, he at the very least expressed his support for the current Carolina Panthers saying he has “no issue with the Panthers locker room or actual team!”

That’s twice in less than two days that the Carolina Panthers organization has been put on blast. Maybe Williams is just expressing his frustrations with the Richardson regime and how things were run. It will be interesting to see if David Tepper tries to patch things up with Williams or not. I would not blame Tepper for not doing so. He has bigger things to worry about.

One has to wonder if other former Panthers will speak out about their time with the organization.

Either way, this is the type of scenario where nobody wins. Williams obviously is disappointed with the organization. Even still, these types of comments seem to have come out of nowhere, and Williams appears to be piggybacking off of Benjamin’s discontent.
