The Panthers kick and punt returners last season were a revolving door of different individuals all getting an opportunity. This year, with an increased workload for McCaffrey, it was expected that his role in this position would be limited.
According to the first unofficial depth chart from the Panthers, this will not be the case. McCaffrey is listed as second in line for both duties behind speedy wide receiver Damiere Byrd. Another surprise is that fellow receiver, Curtis Samuel, finds himself so far down on the list.
Having served in both roles at some point during his college career, the first-round pick Moore, is also in the mix. Hopefully Carolina can receive a bit more consistent production from both of these areas of the game this season.
While much of the depth chart appeared in close consideration for what many expected to see, at least initially, these few wrinkles provide plenty to watch over the coming weeks.
