Brendan Mahon, G

Brendan Mahon has been impressive since signing as an undrafted free agent with the Panthers and now has been forced into action. Expected to start on Thursday night at left guard, the former Penn State stand out will be tested and provided a chance to prove he can play at a high level.

Carolina has enjoyed success up front with developing talent similar to Norwell, who Mahon would now be replacing due to the Silatolu injury. Although Norwell wasn’t thrust into action until Week 7 of his rookie campaign, the future All-Pro finished the year without allowing a single sack.

If Mahon performs well during the preseason, he may provide more than a short-term fix.
