The offensive line will cause headaches this season

Between the injuries to Daryl Williams and Amini Silatolu as well as the departure of Andrew Norwell, the Carolina Panthers have quite literally thrown several linemen into the fire.

Greg Van Roten got the start over undrafted free agent Brendan Mahon on Thursday night as the team continued to mix and match on the line. Per Mahon himself, Van Roten has more experience, so he was given the opportunity. Perhaps a position battle will start to form over the next couple of weeks.

This was a position I thought Carolina Panthers would do a better job of addressing over the course of training camp. The lack of fixing this problem could potentially carry over into the regular season. Even if the offensive line ends up playing decently over the course of the season, there will undoubtedly be some growing pains as the team tries to find the right combination.

If anything, what we learned about the line during training camp is that it will not be perfect, but there are pieces to get the job done.
