The Offensive Line is Still Struggling with Pass Protection

The Panthers offensive line struggled to stand their ground against the talented Dolphins defensive line. The unit gave up three sacks for a loss of 21 yards. Also, the offensive line ultimately allowed their quarterbacks to get hit a combined eight times. Starting left tackle Matt Kalil got bodied by defensive end Robert Quinn, who sacked Newton twice.

Head coach Ron Rivera should consider plugging in Greg Van Roten, Jeremiah Sirles or Brendan Mahon at left tackle and observe how they play. Tyler Larsen could play left guard if players were to get shifted around the line. The bottom line is that the Panthers must figure out which player is the long-term play at left tackle before the start of the regular season.
