TE Ian Thomas is Progressing Nicely

More from Cat Crave

After the Panthers lost backup tight end Ed Dickson to the Seahawks, they took a gamble and selected tight end Ian Thomas with their first pick in the fourth-round of the 2018 NFL draft. This is the player who will hopefully one day take Greg Olsen’s spot when he retires.

Last night he recorded his first touchdown as a pro. On a third-and-short situation, Newton connected with Thomas on a pass thrown over the middle at the 26-yard line. Thomas then took the ball to the house. That was his one and only catch of the night, but it was exciting. He burned the Dolphin’ secondary unit down the sideline. After he scored Newton enlightened Thomas on the proper way to celebrate a touchdown in Bank of America Stadium.

Best of all, his teammates patted him on the back and gave him some words of encouragement as he walked down the sideline. Thomas appears to be progressing as a player ahead of schedule.
