Hint: The Carolina Panthers logo looks pretty good…

I am not one to get too excited about video games, but even I must admit that this is pretty cool.

In the latest updates to the Madden NFL 19 video game, a midfield logo is featured at Bank of America Stadium. This is quite the change up from what was originally at midfield. The NFL shield has dominated midfield space since the Carolina Panthers first came to fruition in 1996.

Having the NFL shield as the midfield logo was Jerry Richardson’s doing as he wanted to do it out of respect to the league for accepting the Panthers in 1993. While it was a nice gesture at the time, it would certainly be cool to see a new Carolina Panthers logo there.

Although a logo has not been officially announced, there has been a #PanthersLogoChallenge going around on social media and the Carolina Panthers have featured it on all their social media platforms. If it was not going to happen why would the Panthers put it on their channels?

With three out of the first four games of the season being home contests (Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, and New York Giants) , Carolina Panthers fans will have plenty of time to admire the logo.

I totally get why the Carolina Panthers never wanted to put a team logo at midfield. It was appropriate to pay respects to the league that allowed you to have a team. If anything, having the NFL shield made the Carolina Panthers a bit unique. As Steve Taranto of 247Sports notes, only the Giants and Jets have the shield at midfield, as they both share the same stadium.

The logo is going to look pretty cool if the design on Madden is any indication. If nothing else it will add to the gameday experience and truly make Bank of America Stadium feel complete.

The timing of the logo announcement seems very fitting as the Carolina Panthers boast a new-look roster themselves. It will be interesting to see when and how the organization decides to make the announcement as a new era of Carolina Panthers football unfolds.
