Greg Olsen

This may seem like a risky fantasy pick and for good reason. Olsen was not himself last season due to injury . Now in 2018 he looks to bounce back and perform better than ever.

When healthy, Olsen is one of the most consistent tight ends in all of football. Since 2014, he has made the Pro Bowl in three out of the last four seasons. From 2014-2016, he enjoyed a steady increase in yard production with his highest amount coming in 2015 when he tallied 1,104 yards. He also recorded a career high in touchdowns that year with seven.

He is a high-volume pass catcher, totaling at least 100 receptions in five out of the last six seasons. Due to the improved wideout corps, I would expect that total to lessen a bit. Even still, 85-90 catches would be a good amount for a guy of his caliber. In a PPR league, he should fare well.

Last year, Tom Carpenter picked him in the sixth round (No. 51 overall) in what was certainly a value spot given his production the year before. It may have turned out to be a bit high, given his injury.

This year, Olsen was picked in the seventh round No. 68 overall.

Olsen has been one of Cam Newton’s best pass catches over the years, and this is a case where he may be available in the late rounds. If he is available grab him, because by all accounts he is healthy. This year, he is not the type of pick you have to worry about missing out on due to his uncertainties.  With how deep the talent pool in the league is this year, he may end up going in the seventh round or lower.
