RB Cameron Artis-Payne

Cameron Artis-Payne has spent most of his professional career with the Panthers on the practice squad. He has shown flashes of potential but to this day, can not seem to earn enough trust to take on an expanded role on offense. Last night Cameron Artis-Payne couldn’t get into a rhythm. Cameron Artis-Payne averaged just 2.5 yards per carry on six attempts. He also snagged two passes for 13 yards.

Second-year running back Christian McCaffrey has earned the primary running back role and C.J. Anderson is pretty much a lock for backup running back. That leaves one, maybe two spots for more support at running back. Keep in mind that the Panthers do finally have a fullback who can play the position well.

Offensive coordinator Norv Turner likes to incorporate a fullback into his plan. Cameron-Artis Payne will be competing with veteran running back Kenjon Barner, UNC Tar Heel star Elijah Hood, former Tar Heel Bug Howard and Reggie Bonnafon for a roster spot.
