Curtis Samuel

There were questions in the offseason about whether or not Curtis Samuel would put together a solid preseason due to rehabbing from injury. Friday was set to be a big game for him against a tough opponent in the New England Patriots, and he answered the call.

Catching three passes for 58 yards, he led all Carolina Panthers wideouts.  A 31-yard catch was his longest of the evening. Although those may not seem like impressive numbers, how he got them was impressive. He was difficult for Patriots defenders to cover, as he used a double-move several times ot break free from defenders.  His speed during runs after the catch was noticeable. This was the type of game he needed to have as the season inches closer.

Although he still has some things to work on, he looked like the Curtis Samuel of old. That is great news for Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. If he is able to add another weapon to an already-stacked receivers room, that is a major victory for the team.
