“Run CMC” will be more than just a nickname

Christian McCaffrey will get a major workload in the regular season, that is the plan anyway. In the preseason, it was no different as he has remained one of the top running backs in all of the National Football League during this timeframe.

He is No. 4 among all running backs with 151 rushing yards over the course of three preseason games. In addition, he has two rushing touchdowns which is one off the pace of the leaders Royce Freeman and John Kelly. New offensive coordinator Norv Turner loves to use his running backs and that seems to be the case here to this point. Given the fact that he is such an explosive playmaker, I would be a bit worried if he was underutilized. However, my biggest concern is if he can sustain a constant level of production all year.

At the end of the day, whether he can or not is irrelevant. It seems as though McCaffrey will have to be a workhorse. With the way Norv Turner employs running backs, he will be expected to take on a big workload. He did average 7.2 yards per carry through the first three weeks of the preseason, so he could be in line for some big numbers in 2018.
