Panthers at Steelers: Players to watch
Elijah Hood, RB
Elijah Hood returned home to Carolina after one season with the Oakland Raiders. Thought only to be adding depth at the position for preseason purposes, Hood has played his way into contention for a position on the active roster.

Nine carries for 11 yards doesn’t sound too impressive but Hood has also added one rushing touchdown, in addition to a 21-yard scoring reception in preseason game one. Battling with Kenjon Barner, one of the two should fill a fourth running back slot when the roster is finalized.
If not, both would be candidates for the practice squad but should draw interest from other NFL teams once an injury or other circumstance forces them to add a ball carrier later in the season.
Even with the starters sidelined, preseason game four provides plenty of reasons to watch and for these players it is literally a job interview. Many are able to execute in practice without the pressure of performing on the main stage but those who can prove they have what it takes to do both will ultimately be granted the opportunity.
These and many more have one more chance on Thursday night at Pittsburgh. Kickoff at 7:30pm.
