Running Back: A

Letting Jonathan Stewart walk in the offseason felt like a bad decision at the time but general manager Marty Hurney did a nice job filling the position with C.J. Anderson. Second year running back Christian McCaffrey is also expected to receive a significant amount of carries so in essence he is the real replacement for Stewart as Anderson can fill a short yardage role.

Behind these two, injuries depleted much of the depth as Fozzy Whittaker was sidelined early along with what appeared to be a serious knee injury to Elijah Hood in the preseason finale. That opens the door for Kenjon Barner and Cameron Artis-Payne should return in a similar capacity.

Alex Armah also has the potential to be a surprise contributor to the Panthers offense in a fullback role utilized more by new coordinator Norv Turner.
