The Carolina Panthers traded to bolster their offensive line options to start the year…
Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney traded a future NFL Draft pick (2020) to the Detroit Lions in order to land an offensive lineman. Since multiple injuries created a shuffle up front for the Panthers, making such a move in an effort to bolster the position was expected by many.
During the preseason, starting tackles Daryl Williams and Matt Kalil both suffered knee injuries along with Amini Silatolu who had been targeted to fill in at left guard after Andrew Norwell left during free agency. Second-year tackle Taylor Moton originally replaced Williams before having to change ends and takeover for Kalil once he departed.
Former Vikings tackle Jeremiah Sirles replaced Moton at right tackle when he moved following the injury but he too has been placed on Injured Reserve as the Panthers quickly ran out of options.

As the roster cut down deadline approached, Carolina acquired native Corey Robinson from the Detroit Lions for the pick. Robinson has NFL experience, starting eight games over the past two seasons.
The 6-foot-7, 317-pound tackle is a former seventh round draft pick (2015) and currently listed as the backup left tackle, behind Kalil, on the Panthers official depth chart. Despite no official word on a return date for Kalil, Silatolu or Williams, all are currently being counted as part of the 53 man roster meaning their placement back into the starting lineups should come sooner rather than later.
Regardless, Hurney made a move to shore up a position riddled by injury early in the 2018 season, albeit one that has fortunately shown little sign of vulnerability – especially with the Panthers fist two opponents presenting tough matchups.
