Team Speed

Coupled with an improved performance from the quarterback position is an overwhelming amount of team speed – especially at the skill positions. Coach Rivera has brought attention to this fact numerous times throughout training camp and the preseason but just how the team plans to utilize their capabilities remains to be seen.

A vanilla preseason for the offense, especially when the starters were on the field, still resulted in some impressive showings from running back Christian McCaffrey and rookie wide receiver D.J. Moore. Both figure to be key components on an improved offense with significant playmaking capabilities when given the football.

Combined with speedy receivers Jarius Wright, Curtis Samuel and Damiere Byrd, the sky is the limit for an offense which should benefit from Newton’s newfound appreciation of the underneath route in addition to having players capable of stretching the field when needed.
