Protect QB Cam Newton

Cam Newton enters 2018 with a new offensive coordinator for the third time in his career. Fortunately, it has been a healthy offseason for the Panthers franchise quarterback as Norv Turner works to improve his accuracy for the weapons Hurney has added to the offense.

However, the Panthers have suffered multiple injuries across the offensive line and although some  projected starters may return for Week 1, as a unit, this group remains unproven. If able to protect Newton, keep him upright and allow him time to operate – which should be shortened from last year – Carolina will be successful on offense.

Pressure always effects quarterback play and although Newton is a special athlete with mobility, a reduction in the number of hits to which he is exposed would be beneficial in Week 1 and throughout the season.
