Strengths and Weaknesses

Cat Crave: What would you consider to be the Cowboys biggest strength? Biggest weakness?

SM: Surprisingly, I believe the Cowboys biggest strength could be their linebacker corps. Especially if Pro Bowler Sean Lee can stay healthy. Linebacker Jaylon Smith appears to be nearing 100% again after struggling to return from the devastating knee injury he suffered in college. And Dallas used their first round pick to select Boise State linebacker Leighton Vander Esch in the 2018 NFL Draft. The linebacker corps is a talented squad and rivals the Cowboys’ running backs as the top positional group on the team.

As for the biggest weakness, it’s the safety position. Jeff Heath is clearly the best safety the team has and could have a breakout season. But beyond Heath is nothing but questions and injuries. Xavier Woods was earmarked as a starter early but is dealing with a hamstring injury. His backup, Kavon Frazier, recently injured his shoulder. Tyree Robinson is an undrafted rookie out of Oregon that under whelmed during the preseason. Finally there is Ibraheim Campbell, who was just signed last week after being cut by the Houston Texans. This positional group is a mess and needs someone to step up or a blockbuster trade to be made.
