Good Early Returns

The early indications from seeing Thomas play have been optimistic and although no one can replace Olsen, Thomas is already good and he’s improving. Having only played two years of major football in college, Carolina took a bit of a chance on Thomas and so far it’s paying off.

In preseason play, Thomas registered three catches for 37 yards and one touchdown. During a 16-8 win over Dallas last week, the rookie tight end caught two balls for four yards. Not an eye-popping stat by any stretch of the imagination but he now is just one reception shy of fellow tight end Chris Manhertz‘s career.

Improving on his blocking since the beginning of training camp and already receiving looks from quarterback Cam Newton, the future is bright for Thomas.
