Cam Newton will throw for at least three touchdowns

This is the last-ranked bold prediction on this list because it seems the most likely. Cam Newton will throw for at least three touchdowns. He threw for one last Sunday against Dallas in what was a sloppy opener. I expect that with another week of practice adjusting to Norv Turner’s offense, this will be the week he truly breaks out.

For starters, the Falcon defense is wounded at the moment. Among the more notable names, safety Keanu Neal and linebacker Deion Jones will both not play on Sunday in what is now more a formality to address than anything else. Having those two out will be huge for Newton, and I expect him to throw at least three touchdowns. Who will be on the receiving end of those is the question. Christian McCaffrey and Devin Funchess should be able to see the end zone. CMC led the Carolina Panthers in receiving last week with six catches for 45 yards while Funchess caught three passes for 21 yards. I expect to see a bigger game out of Funchess on Sunday.

Newton and the offense have the tools to make it happen and I truly think they will on Sunday. The Falcons gave up 117 yards to Nick Foles and Newton is much more talented than Foles is. Atlanta is a very vulnerable team at the moment, and that should work in Newton’s favor as well. The stars are aligning for him to have a big game.
