Colin Jones

It is strange seeing a defensive player’s name on this list that is not Luke Kuechly. Nevertheless, Colin Jones is more than deserving of being on it. After a great game on Sunday, he showed that he can contribute to the defense and contribute to the Carolina Panthers depth on that side of the football.

Jones finished with eight tackles yesterday, tied with Shaq Thompson for the most on the afternoon. Usually, it is not a good thing when a safety records the most tackles in a game. However, in Jones’ case I think it is. He is not the type of player that will find himself in the headlines every single week, but as he showed on Sunday, he can get the job done. It will take a while for him to replace the loss of Kurt Coleman, but Jones showed he may not be a bad replacement.

It will be interesting to see if Jones can keep up that level of play moving forward. He can use the bye week to take a look at how he played and build off of it. Sunday was a step in the right direction.
