The Carolina Panthers tight end continues to make steps towards recovery.

This latest Carolina Panthers development got me fired up, and I am sure it will do the same for you. Panthers tight end Greg Olsen was spotted at practice on Thursday. He was wearing both a helmet and a jersey.

Per multiple media reports, he was listed as a “limited” participant in practice, but nevertheless that is certainly a great sign. As Steve Taranto of 247Sports notes, this is the first time he has practiced since the game against the Dallas Cowboys. As you may recall, I assumed that his injury would mean Olsen would not step foot on the practice field for the rest of  the season. In addition, I assumed his future was at the very least in doubt in regards to whether he would play next season. These developments essentially shut me up.

Speaking to the media yesterday, head coach Ron Rivera indicated that the Carolina Panthers want to ease Olsen back into the fold, and are thinking about the future. It is a smart move on their part as I think Olsen still has a lot more left in the tank.

"“We’ll see how (Olsen) is again at the end of the week with this amount of work that we’re putting him under,” said Rivera. “Most certainly, we’re looking for the future. Nothing for now right now.”"

With him it has not been a case of declining skills. If anything, he has thrived since becoming a member of the Carolina Panthers. The biggest question surrounding him is how much longer can his body hold up? He has a reputation of being an “Iron Man.” He has  rarely missed a game over the past couple of years. Now, is his body finally telling him to slow down? I sure hope not as it is hard to find the level of consistency that Olsen has carried with him over the years. More than anything else, he is fun to watch.

It is just great to see him back on the field again. He as such a huge part of the Carolina Panthers offense and although Cam Newton has a plethora of weapons, there is no doubt he loves throwing to No. 88.

Will Olsen come back this season? My guess is that he probably will not. However, between easing his way back into practice now, he is already a step ahead of where many thought he would be at this point. If anything, he is setting himself up for a big comeback in 2019.
