The Carolina Panthers win at home over the New York Giants, if…

Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney and coach Ron Rivera made a football decision to sign safety Eric Reid during the bye week. His addition to an improving secondary is expected to bolster a defensive unit still finding their way under new coordinator Eric Washington.

Eli Manning and the New York Giants receivers are likely to attack the Panthers down field, something they have rarely done this season, but an area where Carolina may be vulnerable. The communication and rapport of a defensive secondary adding a new member, even with a few extra days to practice, is subject to some in game breakdowns and the Panthers must avoid these for success.

Rarely is a game decided on a single play but the momentum changes associated with big plays are undeniable. Playing on the road, one of the key factors is to try and take the crowd out of the game – scoring early and executing some big plays definitely helps.
