Stop Big Plays

Big plays are typically defined as those covering 20-plus yards either by air or on the ground. New York has the players to execute both in rookie running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver Odell Beckham, among others.

For Carolina to be successful they must limit the number of big plays executed by the Giants. If Manning is able to connect down the field with his receivers it could mean a long day for the Panthers defense. Expect the Giants to take a few shots early to test the newly acquired Reid at safety and limits of the Panthers secondary.

On the ground, the Panthers defense shored up some uncharacteristic holes during their last game which divisional rival Atlanta opened a few weeks ago. Limiting Cincinnati to just 66 yards rushing, Carolina needs another dominating performance against New York.
