The Carolina Panthers kicker picked up an award after his big day Sunday.
great week for Carolina Panthers kicker Graham Gano continues. Wednesday, he was named NFC Â Special Teams Player of the Week per Max Henson of Panthers.com.
Gano has been on fire to start the season . He has gone 7-7 on field goal attempts to begin the season. Sunday may have been one of the biggest games of his career. He nailed two 47-yard field goals, one 39-yard field goal and the game-winning 63-yard field goal in the win over the Giants. In addition, he made three extra points.

Consistency has been a way of life for Gano. As Henson notes, Gano has missed only one field goal over the past two seasons. That mark equals a 97.6 field goal percentage, a rate that is the best in the National Football League.
If anything, Sunday was just another page in what has been a storybook career to this point. In a 10-year career, he has played for both the Redskins and Panthers. He has found success with both organizations. After struggling a bit with the Panthers in 2016, Â a year in which he made only 78.9% of his field goals), he found his groove again in 2017. He made 29-30 field goals and 34-37 extra points. Â He has clearly carried over his consistency with him this year as he has yet to miss either a field goal or extra point attempt.
Believe it or not, it is hard to find a kicker who can put up numbers like Gano can. That is one of the many reasons why the Panthers were smart to give him a new contract. He continues to be money for them game in and game out and Sunday was just an example of that. I truly hope he can keep this level of play up.
For a guy that has been in the league for a while at a position that does not often get the recognition it deserves, this is a tremendous honor. Hopefully, he can continue to keep this pace up as the season moves forward.
