Only October

Yes, every NFL game is important and each counts the same but there are still plenty of opportunities left for Carolina to improve their standing. Historically, coach Ron Rivera teams have performed much better in the second half of the season and with so many young players at key positions, this year should be no different.

Since taking over in 2011, Rivera’s teams are 41-19 after October with only one losing record in the past seven seasons. The Panthers were 4-5 during a dreadful 2016 campaign once the calendar turned to November.

Given this team has new coaches at every coordinator position and rookies contributing on both offense and defense, the potential for improved play down the stretch is apparent.
