Cam Newton

After a so-so performance last week, Cam Newton came out firing. It was great to see him get back to what he does best, scoring touchdowns.

Newton went 25-of-39 on the day, throwing for 269 yards and two touchdowns. More importantly, he did not throw an interception. Averaging 6.9 yards per throw, he finished the game with a 101.9 quarterback rating. That is his highest rating since the Bengals game when he finished with a 108.0 mark.  He looked quick and decisive on his throws and made quick decisions. Above all, the poise he showed while the team made its comeback was impressive and he certainly gave the fans something to be excited about.

As the season roars into the tough portion of the schedule, Newton will be tested against a tough Ravens defense next week. If he can put together two solid performances back-to-back against two tough defenses, that would go a long way towards silencing some of the doubters.  He can do it , and he has the weapons at his disposal and enough individual talent to do it. We saw both of those factors come into play on Sunday.
