D.J. Moore

The rookie needed to come up big on Sunday afternoon and he did just that. With Torrey Smith out for the game, Moore was thrusted into the starting role. After what had seemed like a long time coming, we were finally able to see what he could do when given ample playing time. By all accounts, he did very well, and gave Panthers fans a glimpse of the future.

The Maryland product caught five passes for 90 yards, leading all Panthers receivers. A 33-yard snag was his longest of the afternoon. Averaging 18 yards per catch, he showed his ability to be an explosive playmaker. He gave Cam Newton a deep-ball target to throw to, something he did not have with Torrey Smith on the field. It was great to see Moore get into a groove and find his rhythm as the game went on.

If he can continue to play at a high level like he did on Sunday, he will be a starter sooner rather than later. As he showed, he has the talent to be an impact playmaker in the National Football League and that will work to his advantage. He certainly did not look like a rookie on Sunday, and if he can continue to build off his performance, will set him up for long-term success.
