Mike Evans will be held to under 100 yards receiving

Mike Evans is a dangerous man. He should be something that Carolina Panthers cornerbacks keep an eye on. If Tampa Bay’s quarterback play has been lacking as of late, the receivers have certainly done a nice job of picking up the slack. Evans has been in the middle of all of this, and has put together a hot start to this point in the season.

On the season, he has 770 yards and four touchdowns to go along with 46 receptions. Last week against Cincinnati, he had quite a day. He finished the game with 13 receptions for 179 yards and a touchdown. Averaging 29. 8 yards per catch on the afternoon, a 72-yard grab was his longest of the day. He had three straight touchdown catches in the first three games of the season, and went through a little bit of a drought. Prior to his catch last Sunday, his last touchdown came on September 24 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Carolina’s passing defense has given up 4291 yards on the season, the fourth-most in the National Football League. However, you can bet that Eric Washington and the defense have zeroed in on Evans as a player to watch out for.

Strengthening my prediction is the fact that DeSean Jackson is also a valuable weapon and it would be easy to surmise that Evans will have a more difficult day that he has had in past games. This is one of those predictions that could either go very right or very wrong, but I will stick to this one, especially as Tampa Bay continues to work out their quarterback situation.
