Three bold predictions for the Carolina Panthers against the Buccaneers
Cam Newton will ball out
I feel like I put him at the top of all my bold predictions, but the fact of the matter is Cam Newton is a valuable player. Not only that, he can put up big numbers in a hurry. Going against a Tampa Bay passing defense that has struggled this season, it would not be a stretch to predict that he throws for at least 350 yards in Sunday’s game.
Tampa Bay’s defense is ranked 11th in the National Football League with 251 yards given up on the season. With the secondary headlined by Brett Grimes, Tampa Bay has been holding their own, but they certainly would like to improve on that number. Coming off a big week against the Baltimore Ravens, the Carolina Panthers offense appears to be firing on all cylinders. Cam Newton looks as comfortable as he has ever been under center, and a lot of credit should go to offensive coordinator Norv Turner. He has really put this offense in a position to succeed.
If I had to guess a number, I would say that Newton will throw for at least 363 yards. It finally seems as though him and the rest of the offense is in sync and that does not bode well for the rest of the league. Last week, the Panther passing offense combined for 232 yards and two touchdowns through the air. I’d expect that number to see a sharp increase on Sunday.
