Pressure, Pressure, Pressure

Roethlisberger has been sacked only 11 times this season as his ability to extend plays and maneuver in the pocket remains impressive. He’s hard to bring down and while the Panthers don’t necessarily need to get him on the ground, they need to be in the back field consistently.

This pressure and making Roethlisberger find targets while on the move or attempt to make plays with his feet benefits Carolina. The issue becomes if defensive coordinator Eric Washington elects to bring an extra pass rusher, then those behind him must be fundamentally sound or risk being exposed.

Washington has dialed up the pressure a bit more in recent weeks, but Roethlisberger’s ability may be cause for hesitation. A good mix of blitzes coupled with regular pressure from the front four is what the Panthers need to win.
