If Sunday is a shootout…

If Sunday is a shootout between Stafford and Newton, that would be giving the Lions way too much leeway towards a win. Taking last weeks lesson from Steelers to heart, there should be as steady a drumbeat of scoring from the offense as the rain Carolina faced in practice.

In addition, a pass rush that keeps Stafford worrying about where the hit is coming from should come from the guts of professional pride.

Graham Gano isn’t going to miss four field goals and a point-after attempt like Green Bay’s Mason Crosby did to hand the Lions a win.

If he’s on the field for that many attempts, Panthers fans will be watching more of a nail-biter than they should.
