Cam Newton will throw for over 300 yards

This may seem like an odd bold prediction given the fact that Cam Newton seems to do this on a weekly basis. Against a tough Detroit Lions pass defense however, this prediction does not seem far-fetched. Newton will throw for over 300 yards on Sunday and become a key member of the Carolina Panthers offensive attack.

Detroit comes into this game ranked eighth in passing yards allowed per game with 232. Newton has thrown for over 300 yards only once this season. That came against the Atlanta Falcons on September 16. In that contest, he passed for 335 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. For what it’s worth, he rushed the ball five times for 42 yards as well.

You can bet Newton is not going to have two bad games in a row. He will want to redeem himself from the performance against Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, this Detroit defense will give him a test. They play physically, they play quickly, and they are not afraid to go after the football. As stated, they do give up a fair amount of passing yards, and that will work in Newton’s favor. He just has to make sure he gets the ball off quickly and make smart reads to avoid turnovers. If he can do that, it could be a long day for the Detroit defense.
