Tyler Lockett

If the Panthers want to beat the Seahawks on Sunday, they need to watch out for wide receiver Tyler Lockett. He had a great game on Thursday, slicing and dicing the Green Bay Packers defense. He finished the game catching five passes for 71 yards. Averaging 14.3 yards per reception, a 34-yard catch was his longest of the evening. Perhaps most impressive about his effort was that he was targeted exactly 5 times. That is efficiency at its finest.

Per statistics from Pro Football Focus,  his 71.8 receiving rating was his highest number in that category since the Seahawks took on the Detroit Lions in week eight. His 71 receiving yards were the most since Seattle took on the Oakland Raiders in week five. In that contest against Oakland, he tallied 98 on the afternoon. He will be looking to build off the momentum gained from his solid performance last Thursday. There are certainly some holes in the Carolina secondary. On Sunday, they gave up 9.8 yards per catch. This certainly will bode well for Lockett.

The Panthers will need to stop him if they want to have a chance to win this game on Sunday. Russell Wilson loves to throw the football deep and it seems as though Lockett has turned into a deep threat for the quarterback. It will be interesting to see how Donte Jackson covers him throughout the course of the game. This will certainly present a challenge, but it is one that Jackson should be able to take on.
