Cam Newton continues to grow his annual Thanksgiving holiday feast.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is undoubtedly one of the most prominent figures in the Charlotte community. Since his arrival in 2011 as a rookie quarterback looking to make his way in the NFL, Newton has undergone his fair share of scrutiny on the field despite his efforts outside of the spotlight.

Critics point toward his antics during post game press conferences, especially after a loss, and his on field performance. Despite setting records, winning championships at every level and leading Carolina through their most successful stretch in franchise history – somehow Newton remains the target of skepticism and overly critical analysis.

Even with the naysayers seemingly at every turn, Newton remains a positive influence on the community he serves and a role model for youth in the area. Influenced himself while a youth in the Atlanta area by a local professional athlete, Atlanta Braves outfielder David Justice, Newton hopes to portray a similar message to those in the Charlotte community.

Through his foundation, Newton has partnered with other organizations and businesses in the area to provide Thanksgiving Day meals for underprivileged children and their families, if possible. The tradition continued this past Monday as Newton and company completed their seventh ‘Thanksgiving Jam,’ serving approximately 1,200 guests and renting out the entire Top Golf complex.

Attendees were treated to a traditional Thanksgiving meal, all of the golf activities associated with the site and had the opportunity to rub shoulders with the Panthers quarterback who didn’t shy away form questions about the most recent loss from any of the kids in attendance.

Hoping to continually grow this project, Newton doesn’t receive near the attention he deserves for his many of his off the field efforts. Despite both making an impact, the focus will remain on his on field performances but behind the Panthers quarterback is also an individual who wishes to not only leave his mark on the NFL, but with the Charlotte community.
