Worst Case Scenario

Continuing the current slide throughout December would be disastrous and likely result in some significant changes during the offseason. While an eight game losing streak would cover half of the year, Carolina would finish 6-10 and potentially not last in the division.

It would however extend the streak of years without consecutive winning seasons and keep Carolina out of the playoffs entirely. Rivera has never lost more than two games in December so falling flat in the final five games is also not likely to occur.

Another potential worst case scenario would be to finish with an identical record to either Detroit or Seattle and lose out on the playoffs because of disappointing losses during the year. In both games, Carolina had opportunities to win and having to sit at home in January because of a lapse earlier in the year would be heartbreaking.
