Quarterback Cam Newton continued to thrive in the Norv Turner offense but a horrendous performance at Tampa Bay has raised questions about his overall health. Since suffering a torn rotator cuff two seasons ago, Newton has struggled throwing the football down the field and twice has been removed for backup Taylor Heinicke when a long pass was required.

While the Buccaneers loss can be pinned to turning the ball over numerous times, Newton’s second career game with four interceptions, none of the other losses have been the result of poor quarterback play.

There have been a few ill timed picks but overall Newton has enjoyed a remarkable year according to the statistics, it’s just that his ability to fully operate from the position has been seriously limited by his injury.
