Halfway through the 2018 season this offensive line deserved a ton of credit. Pieced together by the coaching staff and general manager Marty Hurney, the Panthers did a phenomenal job of finding a group of guys to protect Newton and pave the way for McCaffrey.
Unfortunately, it appears as time has transpired and more film is becoming available opposing teams are consistently getting more pressure on Newton. Their performance during the last four games has been the worst stretch of the entire season including dismal performances at both Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay.
Significant changes are in store for this unit during the offseason as veteran, captain Ryan Kalil has already announced his intentions to retire and the future of his brother, Matt, remains up in the air as well. Injured earlier, the Panthers have been pleased with the play of Chris Clark.
The offense overall has improved through the first half and remained pretty consistent over the last four. If Carolina does win any of their final four games, it will be because of this group.
