Defensive Line: 78, C+

C+ at Redskins, B- at Eagles, B vs. Ravens, B+ vs. Buccaneers
D- at Steelers, D- at Lions, C- vs. Seahawks, C at Buccaneers

The defensive line play has been suspect since the beginning of the season but an inability to control the run gaps has led to a decrease in performance. After an exciting start to the year against the Dallas Cowboys, the pass rush has been seemingly non-existent.

A rotational approach continues to be utilized by Washington but the technique hasn’t been as effective this season. Veteran Julius Peppers and Mario Addison have been highlights but Kawann Short, Vernon Butler and Dontari Poe, who was tabbed to replace Star Lotulelei, have been underwhelming.

Washington being relieved of his play calling duties allows him to focus back on the position he coached for numerous years prior to the promotion. Potentially the return could spark a much needed improvement from this unit.
