Carolina Panthers run game, other keys for must win at Cleveland Browns
Defense, Defense, Defense
The Panthers defense has allowed an average of over 30 points per game during the four game losing streak. As a result, Rivera made some adjustments to his staff this week, parting ways with defensive line coach Brady Hoke and secondary assistant Jeff Imamura – both first year coaches with the organization.
In addition, Rivera assumed responsibility for the defensive play calls in the second half at Tampa Bay. It is uncertain at what point he took over but the Buccaneers failed to score after an opening touchdown drive following the half and Rivera is maintaining control moving forward.
For Carolina to win they need some early defensive success. Establishing a few quick three-and-out series will help to build confidence in this unit and could shift a mindset to play for a win, instead of not to lose.
