Secondary: 76, C

B vs. Cowboys, C- at Falcons, C+ vs. Bengals, C vs. Giants
C at Redskins, D- at Eagles, A+ vs. Ravens, A vs. Buccaneers
F at Steelers, C at Lions, F vs. Seahawks, F at Buccaneers
D at Browns, A vs. Saints, D- vs. Falcons, A at Saints

For a rookie, cornerback Donte Jackson solidified his role opposite James Bradberry and the Panthers appear to be set, at least on the outside. Finding a corner who can consistently contribute in the slot will be critical to improving the performance of the secondary.

In addition, the safety situation – with veteran Mike Adams and hired gun Eric Reid needs to be addressed. Reid played well enough to warrant long term consideration but Hurney and Rivera could also elect to start fresh next season.

The secondary for Rivera has always benefited from a consistent and sustained pass rush up front, putting opposing quarterbacks into pressure situations. This absence only compounded the inability of the back end to cover receivers for extended periods and opened up the opportunity for deep passes over the top, an Achilles heel for this defense.
