Offensive Line – C, G

Backup offensive lineman Tyler Larsen has done a phenomenal job filling in for Kalil over the past few seasons when the Panthers veteran was sidelined. His play should have him as the current front-runner for a replacement but as the only two centers listed on the current roster, another option must be found.

Protecting quarterback Cam Newton needs to also be a priority and after experiencing first hand how important depth is along the front line, finding an interior lineman who can immediately contribute is a must.

Hurney’s only first-round pick used on an offensive lineman was for Jordan Gross in 2003, a great selection. If the Panthers can get a similar type player this season then they may pass on any available interior lineman free agents and target rookies with potential.
